To help hit more fairways and greens this season first requires high confidence. One of the biggest mistakes I see from players during their on course routines is creating a laundry list of things to try and achieve...
KEEP IT SIMPLE. This game is all about putting a little while ball in a small hole in the ground... Sounds easy enough when we make it sound more achievable. The mind and body is like a computer and if you add negativity to it, there will be negative results. Players become too hard on themselves and make the game overly complicated. Where I see this the most from players is off the tee. Not everyone can have the John Daly "grip it and rip it" mindset, but the less thoughts the mind is having to digest the better!
To keep it more simple off the tee, the first key is to avoid making big numbers. Being able to avoid any hazards or penalties to start will allow players to lower scores from chipping and putting NOT from trying to add 20 yards off the tee. Always keep your swing full and reactionary to find more short grass as well as less stroke and distance penalties!
