Do not listen to your buddies bad advice!

The Open Championship week hits the major rotation of the year, a hot topic that I would like to discuss is about “bad advice”. Even though our playing companions are trying to help, they are really good at giving terrible guidance. One of the worst things I hate hearing, especially if it is a father trying to help their youngster learn the greatest game on the planet, is “keep your head down”.

This focus on the ball, is not only has players stop their momentum at the ground but creates a habit of having a slicing curvature for the immediate future. Which is always an amazing suggestion from those that pretend to know what they are talking about because out of all of the professional golf events they watch on television, not once have they seen a touring professional have a finished swing with their head in the ground. In fact the most important thing within a golf swing includes the creation of torque as well as a full rotational follow through.

The body on its own attempts to create the most natural motion as well as improved released impact, but too often golfers try to manipulate this natural motion into something forced as well as uncontrolled. As the body rotates throughout the full golf swing motion, allow the chest to guide the eyes NOT keep your head down. Being able to athletically finish at the target creates added balance, speed, and better chance of straight impact. Use this professional advice during your next round to take down the rest of your foursome this season!
